The H.A.B.I.T.S. Ministry

The HABITS ministry was developed as a response to this essential question: What disciplines are important for lifelong, independent, spiritual growth? In other words, what are the habits crucial to maintaining an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ? Each component of the HABITS ministry is designed to transform you into the person God wants you to become. Below is an explanation of how the habits ministry works.

Hang time with God -  This includes an assortment of quiet time journals that are designed to focus your thoughts during your alone time with God. As you finish each journal, you can move on to the next one.

Accountability group – Everyone needs a Christian friend that will help them in their Christian walk. The accountability group plan allows you to enter into a partnership with a friend. You will meet weekly, daily, or hourly if need be to discuss your walk with Christ.

Bible Memorization – In order to follow God’s will, it is important to know what God has to say. Using bible memorization allows you to learn the word of God and hold it in your heart so that you may not sin against him.

Involvement with the church – This is the only part of the HABITS ministry that doesn’t come with a printed resource. However, it is important for you to be involved with the church body outside of the youth ministry.

Tithing Commitment – Tithing is one of the greatest ways to experience how God had provided for us. We have materials for you to use that will increase you understanding of being a faithful giver to the ministry of building God’s kingdom here on earth.

Study Scripture – “Rootworks”, Rootworks gives you the opportunity to grow in your faith in a meaningful way.  This Bible study tool gets its name from Colossians 2:6-7 (NCV)

And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to live in obedience to him. 7Let your roots grow down into him and draw up nourishment from him, so you will grow in faith, strong and vigorous in the truth you were taught. Let your lives overflow with thanksgiving for all he has done.

When deciding where to begin in the HABITS ministry, you should consider the following suggestions:

  • Don’t get overwhelmed by trying to do too much at one time.

  • Check out one resource at a time and work through each one.
